The place
Chozo (typical dry-stone shepherd's hut) converted into a free refuge at 1900 m, near the Plataforma de Gredos in the municipality of San Juan de Gredos (Ávila, Castile and León) — Sierra de Gredos, not the Picos de Europa as one might assume from a refuge named "Prao Puerto". About a 20-minute easy walk from the Plataforma, along a paved path. A rustic unstaffed shelter, useful in case of storm or summer sun for hikers heading to the Circo de Gredos and neighbouring peaks (Almanzor). No indoor equipment, just the mineral shelter itself.
