Refugio C.F. El Campillo-Hornos
The place
Former forest ranger's house (Casa Forestal) converted into a refuge in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park (province of Jaén, Andalusia). Built-in bunk beds, table and bench in an outbuilding; the nearest water point is at the Fuente del Avellanar. A stage on the GR 247 "Bosques del Sur": km 10 of stage 2 (Segura de la Sierra - Refugio El Campillo), followed by stage 3 towards Hornos de Segura. Possible variants: the ascent of the El Yelmo summit or the descent into the enchanting valley of the Madera river. A bivouac shelter reserved for hikers and cyclists (GR 247 has priority); no motor vehicle access, no reservations possible. Database altitude 1439 m; external sources 1430 m.
