Refugi Riu dels Orris
The place
Sleeping places: 6. Solid stone building (like all Andorran refuges). Open year-round. Indoor equipment: - 6 stacked metal bunks (-> no mattresses!) - Mattress and sleeping bag required! Metal is cold! - 1 table - 1 bench - First-aid kit - 1 broom/dustpan. Note: - Every spring, the refuges are inspected to "restock supplies", so to speak, by the people managing them, and are visited regularly. - Don't be surprised to be visited by wardens, who patrol and regularly check on the condition of all the country's refuges, which are provided and maintained by the Andorran Government. In every Andorran refuge you'll find (sometimes more than one...) a "Refuge Passport" with a stamp to apply in the right box. Once you've completed one of the trails crossing the country (GR11, HRP, etc.), you present the passport to the National Tourist Office, which gives you a corresponding diploma and a gift! The refuge is located in the Madriu valley, between Coll Jovell to the west and the Riu dels Orris refuge to the east. The Madriu valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! No less! Info UNESCO: The Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley. From [->5413]: Head up the Madriu Valley first towards the SE, then after a restful flat section towards the NE. From [->5435]: Continue down the valley... to the refuge. Owner: Andorran Government, Departament de Patrimoni Natural, C. Prat de la creu, 62-64, 1r pis, AD500 Andorra la Vella. Phone: +376 875 712.
