Refugi del Pletiu de l'Extrem

The place

Refuge at 761 m in the Serra de Mont-roig (Catalan Pre-Pyrenees), municipality of Les Avellanes i Santa Linya (Noguera, Lleida), within the Aiguabarreig Segre-Noguera Pallaresa natural area. Managed by the Department of the Environment of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Former pleta (livestock pen) in poor condition, repaired and renovated in 2009. Now serves as an emergency refuge and rest stop near the Mont-roig climbing routes, a few minutes from the crag. Capacity 20 places, part free and part locked (keys by authorization at the Les Avellanes town hall or at the Serveis Territorials de Lleida). Indoor fireplace and rainwater collection basin supplying local wildlife.
