Refugi de Son Real
The place
Refuge set up in the former baths of the lords of the Son Real estate, now a public estate of the Government of the Balearic Islands, on the northeast coast of Mallorca, on the road between Can Picafort and Artà (municipality of Santa Margalida). Capacity of 8 people, usable floor area of 48 m². Access via a 1.8 km dirt track from the cistern of the estate buildings — special authorization possible for people with reduced mobility. Four waymarked routes explore the natural ecosystems and historical heritage, easy, accessible on foot or by bicycle (rental on site). Acquired in 2002 by the Balearic Government, the site holds the largest concentration of prehistoric burials in Mallorca (Necròpolis de Son Real).
