Refugi de Montmalús
The place
The Refugi de Montmalús is an unstaffed refuge at 2445 m in the parish of Encamp in Andorra, on the shore of the Estany de Montmalús. Owned by the Andorran government, it offers 10 spaces on bunk beds, with a fireplace, benches, tables and water nearby (not drinkable). Open year-round, free. Access by car to Soldeu then on foot via the ski piste to the Coma Estremera lake (2392 m), about 2h for 810 m of elevation gain. Also accessible from Grau Roig.

A bit of history
Le Refugi de Montmalús, à 2440-2445 m dans la paroisse d'Encamp, secteur Grau Roig, près de l'étang de Montmalús, a été construit et ouvert en 1981. Propriété du gouvernement d'Andorre, il s'agit d'un refuge libre (non gardé) d'une capacité maximale de 12 personnes.
