The place

Sleeping spots: 14 The refuge is located in the Madriu valley, between the Coll Jovell to the west and the Riu dels Orris refuge to the east. The Madriu valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! no less! Info from UNESCO: The Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley. Solid stone building (like all Andorran refuges). Open year-round. Interior equipment: - 14 stacked metal bed frames (-> no mattresses!) - Mattress and sleeping bag mandatory! metal is cold! - The inside of the refuge is spacious, you can settle in provided you have your own mattress, otherwise... - 2 tables - 4 benches - First-aid kit - 1 broom/shovel Outdoor equipment: - Picnic tables - Barbecue/grill Water: - Water supply reaching the refuge To note: - Every spring, the refuges are inspected to "top up levels" so to speak by the people managing these refuges, and are visited regularly. - Don't be surprised to have a visit from the wardens, who regularly patrol and check the condition of all the country's refuges, which are provided and maintained by the Andorran Government. In every Andorran refuge you will find (sometimes more than one...) a "Refugis Passport" with a stamp to apply in the appropriate box. Once you have walked one of the routes crossing the country (GR11, HRP, ...), you present the passport at the National Tourism Office who will give you a corresponding certificate and a gift! From Escaldes, Lac d'Engolasters: Take the GR11 south, past the Coll Jovell, then the path climbs the Vall de Madriu towards the SE ... refuge.
