The place

The former village of Bassegoda in the Catalan Alta Garrotxa (province of Girona), managed by the Centre Excursionista Empordanès since its inauguration in 1976 (reopened in 2010). The site comprises two distinct structures: Can Galan house, staffed and open to the public (five euros a night), and Cal Mestre, reserved for CEE members (twenty beds, two euros for non-members). A stop on the GR11 between Albanyà and the Refugi de les Salines. Water available at the Font de Can Sala, about four hundred metres to the west.

Getting there

Access from Albanyà via the GR11 in about 2 h. The Salines refuge can be reached in 8 h 30 via the CEE road. The Puig de Bassegoda summit is accessible in 1 h 30.
