Refugi Costabona
The place
Emergency refuge at 2,168 m on the southern slope of Pic de Costabona, in the Ripollès (eastern Catalan Pyrenees). Managed by the Club Esportiu de Muntanya Vall de Camprodon. The site is a former magnetite mine converted into a shelter in 1958, then replaced by a purpose-built structure in 1968 (repaired after the great storm of 2000). Nine places with mattresses and blankets. Use strictly reserved for emergency situations; no leisure stays, no waste left on site.
Getting there
Access from Setcases in 2 h 30 via the track toward Vallter, or from Espinavell in 3 h. Practicable with snowshoes and ski touring.

Situé à 2168m sur le versant sud du pic du Costabona, près de la source de Fra Joan, dans le Parc Naturel des Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser (Ripollès, Pyrénées orientales catalanes). Refuge libre non gardé sur 3 niveaux de couchage, point d'eau naturel, électricité solaire, contact radio avec les secours.
