Refugi Costabona
The place
Emergency refuge at 2,168 m on the southern slope of Pic de Costabona, in the Ripollès (eastern Catalan Pyrenees). Managed by the Club Esportiu de Muntanya Vall de Camprodon. The site is a former magnetite mine converted into a shelter in 1958, then replaced by a purpose-built structure in 1968 (repaired after the great storm of 2000). Nine places with mattresses and blankets. Use strictly reserved for emergency situations; no leisure stays, no waste left on site.
Getting there
Access from Setcases in 2 h 30 via the track toward Vallter, or from Espinavell in 3 h. Practicable with snowshoes and ski touring.
