Refuge St-Bernard
The place
Rustic refuge in the Lac Saint-Bernard area of the Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve (Mauricie/Lanaudière, Quebec), managed by SEPAQ. The reserve covers more than 1500 km² and has more than 400 lakes; the Saint-Bernard sector is one of the main entry points, with a campground of nearly 100 sites open until mid-October. The Falaise and Saint-Bernard trails are located right next to the campground, and the Sentier national crosses the reserve from west to east, including the Saint-Bernard trail within its 94.8 km total route. A historic refuge built in the 1940s by an American fishing club at the end of the Mistikush trail rounds out the area's heritage offerings. SEPAQ reservation required.
