Refuge Riu dels Orris
The place
Unmanned shelter at 2230 m in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra), at the place known as Pla de l'Ingla, on the right bank of the Madriu river. Inaugurated in 1981 by the Government of Andorra, built of stone. Capacity of 6 places on bunks ("metal bunk beds"). Equipment: beds, drinking water, fireplace, first-aid kit, table. Building open year-round, maintenance generally carried out during the summer months (cleaning, firewood, first-aid kit). Notable position in the Madriu valley — the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, a cultural landscape of the Pyrenean highlands. On the route of the GR 11 (Spanish Trans-Pyrenean trail) and the GR 7. Classic access from Engolasters or La Comella in about 3h30, with an elevation gain of 980–1000 m depending on the route. Exceptional mineral and forested setting: fir forests, subalpine grasslands, an emblematic glacial valley of the central Pyrenees.
