Refuge Pontese

The place

Capacity: 70 Summer opening: see the exact date on the website. Outside staffed season: a 12-place winter refuge. Services: - Drinks - Meals - 2018 half-board rate: €43 - Shower (fee) - Dormitory or room of 2 to 6 beds, with mattress, blanket, pillow. A refuge superbly located above the large Teleccio dam, at the entrance to a cirque ringed by high rocky mountains with countless high-difficulty climbing routes. From the Teleccio dam: From the Orco valley (or Val di Locana), turn right after the village of Resone, cross San Lorenzo, then San Giacomo, cross the stream to go up the Vallone di Piantonetto. After San Giacomo, the road is signposted as closed to all vehicles (private road giving access to the dam), but a sign below indicates it can be used; when in doubt, the Italians themselves don't hesitate, driving up to the barrier well below the Teleccio dam, about 2 km after San Giacomo. From the car park, walk up the road to the dam, then take the path climbing due north, on the left bank of the lake, to easily reach the "chick yellow" refuge! (45 min).
