The place
Unstaffed CAI Turin refuge at 2440 m on the left bank of the Lago di Valsoera dam (Valle dell'Orco, Piedmont, Italy), 150 m from the top of the dam, overlooking the lake. Dedicated to Marco Pocchiola and Giuseppe Meneghello, who died on Monte Colmet on May 12, 1974; inaugurated September 17, 1978. Concrete structure: living room on the ground floor with tables, benches, sink and dishes; sleeping platform upstairs for 12 people plus 6 mattresses for extra spots. From San Giacomo (1120 m), trail n°559 north into the Valsoera valley, passing the small Lago della Balma, before reaching the Lago di Valsoera and the refuge.
