Refuge Pillichody: A Forestry Legacy Refuge Pillichody, built in 1945 in tribute to Mr. Pillichody, forest inspector of the commune of Le Chenit, is a communal shelter originally dedicated to forestry workers. Located in the Risoud forest, it is now open to walkers within the rules that have been established. Rules and Use The shelter is available for a maximum stay of one day, with no overnight stays permitted. It must be shared if needed, and reservations are not accepted. Fires are only allowed in the stove, using wood gathered from the surrounding forest. Visitors must leave the shelter clean when they leave and take their waste with them. Historical Notes Built following Mr. Pillichody's calls to provide shelter for forestry workers, Refuge Pillichody became a hallowed place, far from being a mere tavern for revelers. The commune of Le Chenit has since relaxed these restrictions to welcome visitors in a spirit of sharing. Access and Location To reach Refuge Pillichody, follow the Chemin du Creux-des-Biches from La Grande-Landoz towards La Thomassette. Tucked about 600 m from the Refuge de Belle-Combe, in a clearing to the right of the path, this communal shelter is a haven of tranquility in the heart of the forest.
