Refuge la Faille
The place
Rustic refuge of the Corporation du Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix, set atop a huge geological fault overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The building, equipped with a wood stove, firewood, an axe and paper, accommodates up to 10 people; a dry toilet is nearby. Very popular with hikers walking the full Sentier des Caps, but also reachable on a family loop via the Sentier la Faille, an easy walk to spectacular viewpoints over the estuary. Booking required (50% non-refundable deposit; 100% if cancelled less than 3 days ahead). Register for the hike at the Saint-Tite-des-Caps welcome centre, 2 rue Leclerc, open from 8:30 am to 4 pm.
