Refuge Gracia-Airoto
The place
Free refuge at 2199 m at the foot of the Lac d'Airoto, with a view of the Pic de Bonabé (2720 m), east of the Col d'Airoto (Alt Àneu, Lleida, Catalonia, Spain). Former Canadian-style hut converted into a free refuge by UEC Uniò Excursionista de Catalunya - Gràcia section, capacity of 12 places. Inaugurated on 6 October 1991 to mark the 50th anniversary of the UEC de Gràcia. Access from the village of Isil via the Airoto ravine in 3h, or from Montgarri in 4h.
Getting there
Refuge libre (non gardé) accessible par plusieurs itinéraires pédestres. Le plus courant : depuis Isil, par le barranc d'Airoto, en environ 3 heures de marche. Autre accès depuis Montgarri, environ 4 heures.
The setting
Le refuge se situe à environ 2 200 m d'altitude dans le Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu (Pallars Sobirà, Vall d'Àneu), à proximité immédiate du lac d'Airoto. Il sert de point de départ pour l'ascension de sommets voisins : Tuc de Marimanya, Pic de Bacivers, Pic de Qüenca et Pic del Rosari.
