The place
น้านค้า (Naan Kha, "Elder brother Kha" in Thai) in Kanchanaburi province, Sai Yok/Erawan sector (western Thailand, on the Burmese border), at 159 m altitude, in the Tenasserim foothills. A new western Thailand cluster that appeared at batch 336. A rural family homestay (the name is a respectful Thai first name), in an area of dry Shorea forest, near the iconic waterfalls of Erawan National Park (a 7-tier turquoise limestone cascade), heritage of the Death Railway (1942-43, built by Japan under Nazi-allied wartime conditions with 61,000 Allied POWs and 200,000 Asian romusha laborers, 100,000 deaths, a 415 km Thailand-Burma railway) and of the Karen people (a minority fleeing Myanmar, 200,000 in Thailand, refugee camps such as Mae La with 40,000 people).
