Refuge du Stauffenmatt
The place
Refuge at 722 m in the Vosges (Haut-Rhin), belonging to the Club Vosgien de Colmar. Equipment: wood stove, two tables with benches, firewood stock prepared in autumn. Water source 50 m from the refuge, signposted toward the Col de Marbach. Good winter protection. Possible to continue on to the summit of the Stauffen (903 m) overlooking the Munster/Soultzbach-les-Bains valley with views of the Petit Ballon and the Hohneck. Bivouacking allowed, permanent occupation forbidden.
Getting there
Accès par Wintzenheim, Husseren ou Soultzbach, via la route des cinq châteaux.
The setting
Cabane non gardée gérée par le Club Vosgien de Colmar, dans le massif des Vosges (Haut-Rhin), à 722 m d'altitude, à proximité du col de Marbach et permettant l'accès au sommet du Stauffen (903 m) avec vue sur le Petit Ballon. Forêt à moins de 100 m ; source à 50 m au débit très faible (environ 1 litre/15 min).
