The place
Unstaffed refuge located at 900 m of altitude above Wangenbourg-Engenthal, in the central Vosges (Alsace). Open all year, free access, no booking. Indoor fireplace (usable for grilling), table and benches. Basic dormitory upstairs reached via a narrow ladder. Water source 200 m along the trail toward the summit of the Schneeberg (961 m). Beautiful view of Wangenbourg-Engenthal and its medieval castle.
