Refuge du Plan (ou du Verneil)
The place
Sleeping spots: 10 Spots on mattress: 10 Unstaffed refuge, always open, with around ten spots and firewood. - An axe but no saw - A stove - a gas cooker... without gas - a fountain in front of the door Often frequented by hunters (who originally built it) Phone network: Some say it works with Orange, otherwise you need to move about sixty meters west up the small grassy knoll, from the top of which you get a view over the Huile valley side, with a modest but usable (Orange) signal. La Rochette then le Mollier then la Grande Biole. Follow the mountainside toward the Pointe du Rognier. Or 1h50 from the Prodin parking lot, heading east, via forest tracks. Getting there
Plusieurs itinéraires possibles : par La Rochette puis le Mollier puis la Grande Biole, à flanc de montagne en direction de la pointe du Rognier ; ou environ 1h50 de marche depuis le parking de Prodin, vers l'est, par des chemins forestiers. Un sentier non signalé sur les cartes IGN Top25 relie également le refuge au chalet de la Grande Montagne du Verneil, situé en contrebas.
The setting
Le refuge se trouve à moins de 100 m de la forêt, avec une fontaine devant la porte. Les relevés hivernaux mentionnent un enneigement notable aux abords.
A word from the warden
Cabane non gardée, entretenue de façon informelle et bénévole (bois régulièrement réapprovisionné, propreté globalement bonne selon les avis successifs).
