The place

Unstaffed cabin at 1942 m in the Vanoise massif (Savoie). Single room with a large table and benches, sleeping on stacked low bunks with foam mattresses, 15 duvets and blankets, wood stove. Basin/fountain in front of the door, stream that flows year-round even in winter. No firewood nearby — the wood supply must be kept for emergencies, especially in winter. In winter, snow can pile up in front of the door; bring a shovel.
