Refuge du Larry
The place
Small unstaffed refuge in the Béarn, at 1,274 m altitude in the commune of Urdos (Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Aspe valley). Site set up by a scout group in 2012, refuge renovated in 2016 by the Amis du Parc National. Capacity of 7 sleeping places plus 2 bivouac spots in summer; table, benches, kitchenette; wood stove and 3-burner gas hob with a large bottle; crockery and matches on site; outdoor drinking water and dry toilets. Currently closed until further notice due to a bedbug infestation. Access from the N134 toward Oloron then Urdos, car park 200 m before the Fort du Portalet (690 m).
The setting
Le refuge se situe à 1748 m d'altitude en Béarn (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), en lisière de forêt à moins de 100 m, avec un point d'eau extérieur à proximité. Le site a été nettoyé et aménagé par un groupe de scouts en 2012, puis rénové en 2016 par l'association Les Amis du Parc National.
