The place
Refuge du Brézouard: A Rustic Shelter in the Heart of Nature The Refuge du Brézouard is a shelter located in the heart of nature, offering sleeping capacity for 6 people. On the ground floor you'll find a large table and 2 benches that can seat about ten people, as well as a stove and a wood-burning cooker. There are also 2 metal bed frames without mattresses. Upstairs, there are 4 more metal bed frames and a sleeping area on the floor. Outside, two tables and benches are available. Water Source Near the shelter, a water source is available. To find it, head southeast facing the shelter (red triangle waymark). After reaching a forest road, turn right at the first junction to find the source about 25 meters away. Getting there
Le refuge se situe dans le col séparant le Petit et le Grand Brézouard ; un sentier balisé d'un triangle rouge y mène, avec un point d'eau à environ 25 minutes à pied au sud-est, sur une route forestière (débit très faible, à ne pas utiliser comme source fiable).
The setting
L'abri est entouré de forêt à moins de 100 mètres et se trouve dans le secteur du Brézouard, un massif vosgien dont une partie du couvert forestier a été détruite par des incendies en 1919 et 1922, la lutte contre le feu ayant alors été compliquée par la présence de munitions non explosées de la Première Guerre mondiale.
