Refuge du Blaufels
The place
Log-cabin-style chalet at 812 m in the Hautes-Vosges (Haut-Rhin), with a fine view over the Thann valley. Unstaffed shelter with no sleeping area but you can spend the night in rustic fashion. Fireplace for cooking or warming up, tables and benches outside for picnics and barbecues. Generally clean and well organised, a little dry firewood available but no saw or axe. Access via a red-white marked trail between Willer-sur-Thur and the Rossberg farm; no vehicle access.
Getting there
L'abri se rejoint par un sentier balisé entre Willer-sur-Thur et la ferme du Rossberg. Aucun accès routier n'est possible jusqu'au site ; départ habituel depuis la gare de Willer-sur-Thur, environ 4-5 km avec un dénivelé de 450-500 m.
The setting
Le chalet est situé à environ 808-812 m d'altitude, en lisière de forêt, sur les hauteurs dominant la vallée de Thann, avec un panorama dégagé jusqu'à la Forêt-Noire par temps clair.
A bit of history
L'abri actuel a été construit en 1996 à l'initiative de la commune de Willer-sur-Thur, en partenariat avec l'ONF et le Club Vosgien de Thann. Construction de type « fuste » (madriers de bois brut empilés et croisés aux angles), d'environ 7 m sur 5 m.
