Refuge des Sommêtres
The place
The Refuge des Sommêtres is an unstaffed cabin of the Groupe d'Alpinistes des Franches-Montagnes (GAFM), located atop a rocky promontory reaching 1079 m, at Le Noirmont (Swiss Jura). Built by GAFM volunteers, it is open all year round with no booking possible. It contains a large table, two 6-person benches, an upper level with 7 mattresses, two blankets and individual lockers, a large stove for cooking, 3 burners, pots, kitchen utensils and tableware. Spectacular toilets (a 5 m walkway over the drop of a 20 m cliff). Panoramic views over the Jura, the Doubs slopes, the Vosges and the Black Forest. A renowned climbing site. Access from Muriaux or Le Noirmont via the yellow trails.
