Refuge des Girards

The place

Unstaffed refuge at 1207 m in the Diois massif, municipality of Saoû (Drôme), at the foot of the Trois Becs on a forest road. Always open to hikers. Access via the GR 9: forest track from the Pré de l'Âne bend until the GR 9 climbs toward the Rochers de la Laveuse, then 1 km of forest trail; the refuge is on the west-facing slope. Capacity of 12 people. Door, windows, wooden bunk beds, table and benches; a wood stove that replaced the fireplace, grills, an outdoor and an indoor table, broom and shovel. No water at the refuge; nearest water point: fountain at the Auberge des Dauphins.
