Refuge des Fontainiers
The place
Sleeping places planned: 5 Cabin located in a magnificent larch forest. It was closed by the commune of Embrun due to repeated vandalism. However, it is possible to request the key from Embrun town hall in exchange for an ID card (since then, the refuge has had to be restored). A spring can be found above the refuge, near a private chalet. Inside the refuge, there is a fireplace, a table and sleeping places for 5 people (plain boards, no mattresses). From Embrun, drive up to the hamlet of Caléyère then continue on the road to its end, at the Forêt parking area (1587m). Then, on foot, follow a path joining the Fontainiers track near its refuge. Getting there
Depuis Embrun, rejoindre en voiture le hameau de Caléyère puis le parking de la Forêt (≈1587m), puis à pied par un sentier qui rejoint le chemin des Fontainiers.
The setting
Cabane nichée dans une belle mélézaie, à proximité du lac de l'Hivernet et du sommet de l'Arpion. Point d'eau à moins de 100m au-dessus du refuge.
A bit of history
Cabane fermée par la commune d'Embrun suite à des dégradations répétées, puis restaurée depuis. S'inscrit dans la forêt communale d'Embrun, gérée pour des usages forestiers et pastoraux.

Cabane non gardée. Clé à retirer en mairie d'Embrun contre pièce d'identité.
