The place
Unstaffed cabin at 1255 m in the Vaud Jura (Switzerland), owned by the Commune du Chenit. Rebuilt in 2003 to replace a larger cabin destroyed by fire in autumn 2001. Tables and benches. Axe, candles and firewood available. No water nearby. Easy access from Switzerland via a paved forest road. From Derrière-la-Côte, follow the chemin des Aubert, then turn left onto the old path (1.5 km after the junction with the chemin du Sablon). Part of a network of more than a hundred forest cabins in the region, originally built for forestry workers and now open to the public.
