Refuge des Cascades Sutherland
The place
Rustic shelter on the National Trail in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, set near the Sutherland Falls within the territory of Lac-Témiscouata National Park, in the municipality of Squatec. The 9.6 km stretch of the National Trail that crosses the area provides access to the seven falls of the Sutherland Falls and to Lac Sans-Nom via a 700 m branch trail. Capacity for six people, fitted with a wood stove; a dry toilet is immediately nearby and a stream serves as the water source. Mountainous terrain with magnificent views over Lake Témiscouata. Since the section crosses the national park, visitors must obtain an access permit from SEPAQ. The area overlaps with Hunting Zone 2 West — avoid during hunting seasons.
