Seaside Refuge: A Natural Break by the Water The seaside refuge, located in the beautiful Baie de la Somme, offers picturesque lodging right by the sea. Accessible by road, it lets visitors enjoy the closeness of the sea, despite the drawbacks that can come with it. Lodging and Amenities Capacity: 8 people. Structure: Open refuge, no door. Layout: Two large sleeping platforms, unsheltered outdoor tables and benches, indoor table and benches, barbecue, toilets, untreated fresh water. Stay options: Camping spots available. Expansion Project and Accessibility Upcoming project: Opening of a faré for taxi-boat trips to Île Ouen and Îlot Casy, plus a light catering project. To reach the refuge from Nouméa, take the southern road via Plum to the village of Prony. Before the village, turn right toward the wharf of Baie de la Somme. The refuge sits in the woods on the left just before the large car park at sea level. The GR trailhead is 100 m from the refuge, at the back of the large car park, near the boat launch ramp.
