Refuge de l'Estany de la Gola

The place

Free refuge built in 2009 by the Spanish authorities at 2,231 m, just downstream of the Estany de la Gola in the Cerbi valley, at the head of the Vall d'Unarre (commune of La Guingueta d'Àneu, Pallars Sobirà, Catalonia). Classic route from the Spanish side from Cerbi via a partly drivable track, then an easy trail to the refuge just before the splendid lake. Also possible from Alos d'Isil via the Coll de la Cornella, the Coll Curios and the Estany de la Gola. From France, via the Mont Rouch ridge through the Mont-Roig "Enric Pujol" refuge, then the chain of Gallina lakes, the Coll de Calberante and the Coll Curios.
