Refuge de Bonverdan

The place

Small building with a green metal roof at 1580 m in the Bauges massif (Savoie), between the Arcalod and the Sambuy. Notable for its isolation: one of the few areas in the region with no cell coverage and no view of any man-made structures other than the chalet itself. Good insulation, stove for cooking, one bunk with 2 mattresses, two additional places upstairs with 2 more mattresses, table, benches, outdoor firewood store in a small shed opposite the refuge. Capacity 4 places on mattresses. No water immediately available: fill up at the fountain at the Abbaye cabin, at the source des Auges, or at the Refuge d'Orgeval (the fountain next to the refuge has not flowed for a long time). Maintenance work in November 2015 and December 2016: bracing of the lean-to, dry-stone wall, moving the outdoor fire pit, adding a double mattress, repairing the stove and its flue, general cleaning.
