Refuge de Balatg

The place

Very large building at 1600 m in the Canigou massif (Pyrénées-Orientales, Conflent), which could use a refresh. Hard to heat due to its height and the not-very-efficient fireplace. Table and sleeping platform on the ground floor with fireplace, dormitory upstairs. Tables and fire area outside. The fountain doesn't always flow, but there is a spring further up the path. A neighboring Orri de Balatg serves as an improvised shelter, doorless but with adequate protection.
