Refuge d 'Usciolu
The place
Staffed Corsican refuge at 1740 m of altitude on the ridge line between the Taravu valley (Gulf of Valincu) and the Fium'Orbu valley (east coast). Stage 12 of the GR20 (Prati - Usciolu), a mostly exposed ridge crossing. 31 dormitory beds. Managed by the Corsica Regional Nature Park, booking required in season.

Stage 12 of the southern GR20, climb toward Punta Cappella, exposed ridge route. Booking via pnr-resa.corsica.

A bit of history
Le site était à l'origine une porcherie exploitée par la famille Pantalacci. Le refuge a été créé après le tracé du GR20. Pierrot Pantalacci fut gardien pendant 15 ans, suivi de son fils Baptiste puis de son frère Francis, qui resta gardien plus de 25 ans et développa le ravitaillement, la location de tentes et les repas du soir.
