The place
Staffed CAS hut at 2338 m elevation in the Val Corno (Val Bedretto, Ticino, Switzerland). Inaugurated in 1927, expanded in 1933 then modernized in 1978 and 2007. 8 rooms with a total of 46 beds. Nicknamed "the alpine spaceship" for its modern architecture. Alpine setting with lakes and glaciers, near the Passo della Novena (Lepontine Alps).

Summer: from Alpe Cruina, a well-marked family trail, under 1 h. Winter: from All'Acqua, ~3 h; reserved for experienced skiers/hikers or snowshoers.
