The place
The Rifugio CAI Saronno is a small staffed hut of the Italian Alpine Club, Saronno section, located at 1827 m elevation at the Belvedere di Macugnaga (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont), at the foot of the east face of Monte Rosa. Rebuilt in 1975 on the site of an earlier 1887 structure, it is a category B hut accommodating 15 people. Open from June 15 to September 30, with wardens present by reservation. A small former private chalet acquired by the section, whose members take turns running it. Access from Macugnaga - Località Pecetto.
