The place

Planned sleeping spots: 12 Spots on mattresses: 12 Hut that has shifted due to the terrain (to be confirmed visually from photos) and is now closed and dangerous. Stone masonry hut, built in 1885. Water is only available as snow or ice. No heating. No waymarking. Climbing the Miage glacier from the Pont de La Visaille bridge (1572 m), followed by the final ascent (1000 m of elevation gain for this stretch), will likely take 7 to 8 hours in fine, dry weather... But those heading to Mont Blanc via the Tournette know what to expect.
