Refuge-bivouac de Marinet

The place

Stone cabin with a metal-sheet roof at 2560 m south of the Grand Lac de Marinet, in the Embrunais-Ubaye (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Built in 1967, restored between 2019 and 2021 by volunteers from the Estive association and members of the CAF Ubaye, with financial support from the fishing association "La Truite de l'Ubaye" and material support from the Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye town hall. Stacked sleeping platform with no mattresses, table and two benches, no heating. 6 places. Used by mountaineers, skiers, anglers and hikers — a base for major routes in the area, including the Aiguille Pierre André and the north faces of the Chillol-Aiguille de Chambeyron. Access from the hamlet of Maurin via a pastoral track that crosses the Ubaye on a bridge at 1912 m, then a path along the Mary torrent via the Croix du Passour (about 2205 m) and the upper and lower Mary sheepfolds.
