Refuge-bivouac Capanna Dosdè

The place

Sleeping places planned: 12 Places on mattress: 12 Cabin that had fallen into near ruin, restored in the 1980s. Not a scrap of wood at this altitude, so no stove or fireplace. For water, stock up in high summer, except in years with late snowpatches... but you'll then need to melt snow. Good insulation, however. There used to be a gas stove twenty years ago, though this can no longer be relied on today. Base camp for the Cima Viola-Saoseo group. Located slightly off to the west of the Passo di Dosdè. From the north, a trail starts from the Val Viola at point 2160 m (Swisstopo), passes the Dosdè alpine pasture and climbs moraine slopes up to the pass. From the south, start from Alpe Avedo in the Val Grosina, following the whole valley, via Lago di Tres then Lago Nero, up to the pass (longer, greater elevation gain).
