Refuge Anse-aux-Vaches
The place
Rustic shelter on the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix, managed by the Corporation du Sentier des Caps. The Sentier des Caps starts from the Cap-Tourmente National Wildlife Area and runs along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River; the Refuge de l'Anse-aux-Vaches is located about 7.7 km from the starting point, set at the edge of the cliffs with an open view over the river. Capacity for 14 people, a water source (stream) close by. Facilities: wood stove, firewood, axe, a few cooking pots. The trail can be walked over 2, 3, 4 or 5 days depending on pace, with shelters spaced every 6-7 km. Booking required (50% non-refundable deposit; 100% if cancelled less than 3 days ahead). Shared shelters possible depending on bookings, some also accessible for day use.
