Refuge-abri de Vera

The place

Modest unstaffed hut located in Corsica, on the route of the Mare e Monti Sud between Olmeto and Burgo. Watertight roof and mattresses hung from a cable to protect them from rodents, plus a few blankets and basic cooking utensils. Two gas stoves and an outdoor dining area under an awning complete the fittings. No heating; water and latrines undocumented. Firewood available in the surrounding forest, but fires are often subject to prefectural bans in summer. The door is deteriorating and insect infestation has been reported.
