The place
An unstaffed DNT cabin (Østfold's third DNT cabin), located in the municipality of Våler (90 m altitude) by Lake Ravnsjø at Svinndal. Run by DNT Vansjø, it stands on a knoll 30 m from the water with a fine view of the lake. Thirteen beds in total; rented as a full block, reserved for DNT members and mandatory advance booking via ut.no. Equipped with electricity for lighting, cooking, and refrigeration, wood-stove heating, and hot and cold running water in the kitchen. Rowboats and canoes available to members with a DNT key. A typical setting of southeastern Norway: low-altitude mixed forest, lakes, inland fjords.
