The place

Free wilderness hut (autiotupa) managed by Metsähallitus in Lemmenjoki National Park (Finnish Lapland, municipalities of Inari and Kittilä), Finland's largest national park (2,850 km²). An important stage on the Lemmenjoki hiking route, which runs from Njurkulahti to Ravadasjärvi then follows the Kultareitti to Kultahamina before returning to Njurkulahti, with the option of a boat return from Ravadasjärvi. Seventeen sleeping places, hearth for heating, gas stove for cooking. No drinking water (must be filtered/boiled), no waste service (everyone carries their own out), cooking equipment must be brought. Free, shared accommodation, open year-round.
