Purity Hut

The place

Standard 6-bunk DOC hut in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatū), at 1,294 m. The hut sits on working farmland: landowner permission is mandatory, required at least 48 h before the visit (contact details via the DOC Manawatū Office). Water tank, wood stove. **Access closed from 1 June to 31 October**, with possible seasonal closures for farming activities. Farm hazards: livestock, machinery, electric fences, unpredictable animals — stay alert at all times. Stay on marked routes, do not alter gates, dogs on a strict leash if permitted, weapons/hunting/fire prohibited, report sick animals without touching them. No booking; payment by hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026).
