The place

DNT cabin managed by Larvik og Omegns Turistforening on the shore of Lake Kopavann, at 440 metres elevation between Løvås and Grorud (Vestfold, southern Norway). 26 sleeping places in total spread across two buildings: main building with 22 beds (two large rooms upstairs, one room on the ground floor and extra benches); Kvarteret annex with 4 beds with the option of extra mattresses/bench space. Wood and propane heating, solar lighting, improved-accessibility toilets since 2024, water from the outdoor pump must be boiled. Fishing and swimming possible. Vehicle access in both summer and winter from Route 40, then 6 km from the Bergandammen dam; during the thaw period the road is closed by a barrier and you must park at Løvås for a 3 km walk. Automatic toll at the Løvås junction. Main building reserved for groups/families (bring your own sheets), Kvarteret has a standard DNT lock and booking is recommended. Open year-round with no warden, visitors handle cleaning and rubbish, no firewood to be taken outside.
