Pöyrisjärvi Reservable Wliderness Hut

The place

Metsähallitus varaustupa (reservable hut) on the south shore of Lake Pöyrisjärvi (Sámi: Bievrrašjávri) in the Pöyrisjärvi wilderness area, Enontekiö municipality, North Lapland. The building houses both a free autiotupa (12 places) and a reservable varaustupa (14 places) — in the same structure. Fourteen bunk beds with mattresses, pillows and blankets. Facilities: wood stove for heating, gas hob and basic cookware, surface water to be boiled, dry toilet, no electricity. Rate 20 EUR per bed per night (2026-2027), booking via Eräluvat.fi. 2027 bookings open on 5 May 2026. Access via an 18 km unmarked trail from the village of Näkkälä, busiest in August and September, the site is impassable during the spring thaw. Dogs not allowed. Access strictly on foot, ski, or other human-powered means.
