Poulter Bivouac

The place

Basic two-bunk bivouac managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Arthur's Pass National Park, north Canterbury (South Island, New Zealand), at 921 meters altitude. Free access. No trail marked by DOC: independent navigation required with map, compass and GPS. River crossing experience required: do not attempt if conditions are dangerous, check NIWA flow rates before departure, turn back if the water level is too high or crossing points are uncertain.
