The place

A turk (an upturned water tank converted into comfortable sleeping quarters) belonging to the Mountain Turk Club, on the shoulder of Siberia Peak, just above the Motatapu/Polnoon saddle, on the Mahu Whenua traverse near Wanaka (Otago). Sunny position with splendid views over the upper Polnoon River valley. One of five turks on the circuit (north to south: Polnoon Saddle, Mount Hyde, Mt Saint Just, Vanguard Peak, Deep Creek).
