The place

Basic six-bunk DOC hut located at 279 m in the Mikonui and Kakapotahi rivers area, near Hokitika (West Coast). Free and open access, no booking required. The approach route is no longer maintained by DOC: occasional track clearing is done by the Permolat association; independent navigation and technical skills recommended.
