pod Šiprúňom
The place
The útulňa pod Šiprúňom is a shelter at about 1383 m elevation in the Veľká Fatra (Slovakia), built by volunteers from the Sloboda Pohybu ("Freedom of Movement") organisation. Built on the site of a former shepherd's baita at the Maďarovo locality, above the mouth of the Čutkovská valley near the source of the Čutkovský stream. Constructed as a traditional wooden cabin. Three volunteer work camps in July, August and September completed the main structure including the roof. The cabin is not yet fully finished but offers emergency shelter. A smaller neighbouring shelter stands on the site of a former salaš below the Vyšné Šiprúnske pass, on the Liptov ridge near Malinné Brdo above Ružomberok.
